The idea to embellish the braces emerged from my interest in supportive, sculptural structures for the body, such as the embellished bra that is the center of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show — an event which presents a very narrowly defined imafe of the 'fantasy woman'.
The piece then evolved into my own 'fantasy' of what my leg braces might’ve looked like were they to have been present in classical Greco-Roman imagery. What might’ve been constructed for Achilles to wear had his namesaked tendon been too short?
